With the Bata store at Uchumi Ngong' Road hyper having been renovated early in the year, the sister branch at Langata Hyper was in line for a similar renovation. This could not have happened at a better time with Uchumi posting improved business. Customer confidence in Uchumi is now on the rise, reflected by the increased customer traffic in the Hypers as well as their other branches in town.
Thursday,19th. August marked the re-opening of the Bata store within Langata Hyper. The re-opening was officiated by Uchumi CEO, Mr. Jonathan Ciano, who commended the Bata team on its efforts toward refurbishing and improving on its product range, that include Baby bubbles and a resurged NorthStar range.
A clear distinction is visible from the previous store, with the new-lookshop including a mezannine to cater for the store's stock area. The ground floor is dedicated as selling and display area, affording ample wall and gondola displays. In addition, the store has a panel dedicated for hand bag display as well a Baby Bubbles panel for infant shoes. Congestion and shoe boxes on display are a now thing of the past. It is anticipated that business will improve by 20% due to this renovation alone. A 10% discount up till 1st September will be on to celebrate the store's re-opening.
Following this re-opening, The standard, a Kenyan daily, ran a story - Shoe Maker to Diversify Products.
