The Bata Miss World Kenya collection was recently launched at a colorful cocktail graced by the presence of reigning Miss World Kenya, Ms. Susan Anyango.  

The event was held at Laico Regency on the evening of 9th February 2012 and was attended by Bata sales staff and the management, led by the MD Mr. Nasir Rafique. Invited guests consisted of Bata customers and dealers from Kenya and East Africa. The guest of honour was His Excellency the vice president of the republic of Kenya Mr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka.

The event started at 6:00PM with the guest of honour cutting the tape followed by remarks by Miss World Kenya franchise holder, Ms. Terry Mungai. Ms. Mungai thanked Bata for promoting local talent by choosing Miss World Kenya to endorse their product. She noted that the shoes within the miss world Kenya collection were reasonably priced. “Bata makes shoes for everyone. Thank you Bata for giving every woman a chance to feel beautiful”, said Ms. Mungai.

Speeches were kept brief as the invited guests enjoyed drinks and the sumptuous bitings that were on offer. 

In his speech, the MD, Mr. Nasir mentioned that Bata had remained true to its promise to provide footwear for all Kenyans for decades while still being an outstanding corporate citizen. He said that in the year 2011, alone, Bata Shoe Company had paid kshs. 2.1 billion. in tax.

In his speech, His Excellency the vice president commended Bata for being a great corporate citizen of Kenya, since 1939 when it set foot on Kenyan soil.  “It is no longer only a story of leather and rubber, but a story of corporate success that has spanned decades”, Mr. Kalonzo said.

The hallmark of the event was a catwalk by the beauty queen, modeling the shoe designs in the miss world collection and a couple of male models modeling a few men’s designs like the Weinbrenner boots and leather man bags.

The Bata miss world Kenya collection comprises of existing and newly introduced designs of ladies sandals made from upgraded PVC material. These value-added sandals are light and durable providing style, value and comfort. Also within the miss world collection is the Marie Claire collection, which consists of shoes and handbags for today’s confident woman.
