Soon, you will be able to buy your favourite Bata shoes using M-PESA.
In a meeting on 6th July 2011 between Safaricom CEO Mr. Bob Collymore and Bata Managing Director Mr. Nasir Rafique, an agreement was reached and what will follow soon, is the signing of an MOU that will see you buy shoes from Bata, using Safaricom’s M-PESA service.
The service will be implemented in some Bata stores at first and then rolled out to the rest of the Bata stores in the country.
Bata has been fast expanding and recently opened its 104th store, Bata Embakasi which is also Bata Kenya’s first destination store and largest shoe shop in East and Central Africa.
In the meeting that took place at Bata Kenya HQ in Limuru, Mr.Nasir was happy to offer Mr. Collymore a pair of Safari boots which is Bata Kenya's icon. Mr. Collymore thanked him and said that the gift was timely as he "would now have something decent to wear during the Diabetes walk" the coming weekend.
